'The Witches' School Production

Robyn Khasan

This year’s school production was based on Roald Dahl’s The Witches. The production created a number of challenges for Moseley’s drama teachers, Mr Pullen and Mrs Sangha, such as how they could use special effects to create a sense of the supernatural, but the biggest challenge came during the auditions.

The standard of the auditions was very high but after numerous call backs and discussions, Robyn Khasan was cast as Boy and Nafeesah Zahid as the evil Grand High Witch.

The play was a great success, with the pyrotechnics and indoor fireworks proving very popular. Such is the success of The Witches, Moseley has been invited to the final of the Columba Trophy at Birmingham Town Hall. This is a competition that recognises the best school plays across the country. Having achieved second and third places in the competition in previous years we are aiming for first place this year!

Robyn has said that he really recommends getting involved in school productions,

“School plays are a great way of getting to know your peers. Everyone is accepted and you get to understand your roles by working with each other.”
