Earlier this half term we hosted an event inviting pupils and their families to come and take part in a cricket event hosted at our Sports Centre. Over 50 pupils and their families attended taking part in a great evening of cricket supported by Chance to Shine, the ECB and with a special visit from Henry Brookes who plays for Birmingham Phoenix in The Hundred. Our pupils were lucky to have a coaching masterclass on expert seam bowling as well as the opportunity to ask some interesting questions to Henry about his career as a Cricketer.

Henry said about his visit, “It was great to see so many boys and girls playing and enjoying cricket after school, and I had a lot of fun joining in with the session. There were some brilliant skills on show too – maybe we’ll see some of them playing for Birmingham Phoenix one day! Hopefully they’ll come along to Edgbaston with their families this summer and be cheering us on from the stands.” ​

This event was an exciting chance for our pupils and families to engage in sport and see local opportunities to further their participation in Cricket.
