Dear Parents/Carers,

Thank you for contacting us to let us know that you will require your child to be in school during the closure. We appreciate that this is a difficult time for many families. This provision will be made for the duration of the school closure, including during school holidays.

The school day

The school day will run as normal from 8:35am until 3:05pm. Please arrange with your children how they will travel to and from school. They should arrive at reception at gate A on Wake Green Road. They should wait there to be collected by a member of staff. They will then be taken to building B, where we will provide them with a combination of activities: online learning, project-based work, and PE. Please ask them to bring equipment with them: pens, pencils, a ruler, and so on as normal.

Online learning has been provided for all students. They may wish to access this but we will expect the majority of their learning to take place on site in school.

Children do not need to wear school uniform but should come wearing appropriate clothing to allow them to do PE. They may wish to bring their PE kit with them to change into.

Absence

If your child is ill during this period, please contact the school in the normal way to report their absence.

If a member of your household develops any symptom of coronavirus, please follow government guidance regarding self-isolation. Students should not be in school if they are self-isolating due to illness of either themselves or one of their family members.

Lunch

Hot meals will be available to at lunchtime to students while they are in school. Normal systems will remain in place, so if your child receives free school meals, they will continue to do so. If they pay for their lunches, they will need to bring money in to load onto the machines.

Communication

The number of children on site is likely to be very small. Children who do not qualify for this provision (as their parents are not classed as key workers) will not be allowed on site.

Please could you contact the school weekly to let us know which days you will require your child to be in school during the following week. We need this information to ensure that there is adequate staffing and food available during the school day.

Thank you for your support during this time. Please do contact school if you have any questions. There will be a staff presence at reception and in school every day during the closure, including the Easter holiday.

Yours faithfully,

Andrew Bate
