GCE and GCSE Results Days – August 2021
Dear Students, Parents and Carers
GCE (A Level) Results
Results will be available for collection on Tuesday 10th August 2021 from the Sixth Form Library between 8.30am and 10.00am.
Students collecting results will need to enter and exit via Wake Green Road, gate A and go directly to the results collection point through the red doors to the back of the sixth from library. Students will need to sanitise their hands on entry to site at reception. Due to the current restrictions we need to limit the number of people on the school site therefore you need to collect the results alone.
Please note that as there were no external examinations taken this year, there will be no Grade Boundaries or marks to provide to you on results days. If you are unable to collect your results on this day please email Alison Buckingham (exams officer) at BUA@moseley.bham.sch.uk where we can arrange for them to be emailed out to your student account. Students who do not collect their results in person will receive a paper copy through the normal post. No results will be given out by telephone under any circumstances.
Results will be emailed out to student email accounts at 8.30am on Thursday 12th August 2021 (in the same way interim PPE assessment reports were sent earlier in the year). A text message sent to parents will accompany this. Please note that as there were no examinations taken this year, there will be no Grade Boundaries or marks to provide to you on results days. If you have any queries about your results or you require any further information please email Alison Buckingham (exams officer) at BUA@moseley.bham.sch.uk.
In addition to your results we will also attach a document containing comprehensive information for students regarding student’s next steps following their results. The school’s careers adviser will be available on GCSE results day and if you want his help you must email him at SIL@moseley.bham.sch.uk between 10am and 12 noon on GCSE results day. Please include your full name, tutor group and your telephone contact details. Mr Silgram will then either email a reply or telephone you.
If you would like a paper copy of your statement of results please email Alison Buckingham (exams officer) at BUA@moseley.bham.sch.uk where we can arrange them to be printed and sent through the normal post (you will not receive these until Monday 16th August). GCSE Results will not be given out on site.
Summer 2021 Post Results Service
This year there will be very limited grounds for appeal. Full details of what this actually means for students unhappy with their results can be found below.
If you request a centre review or an awarding organisation appeal there are three possible outcomes:
- Your original grade is lowered, so your final grade will be lower than the original grade you received.
- Your original grade is confirmed, so there is no change to your grade.
- Your original grade is raised, so your final grade will be higher than the original grade you received.
Once a finding has been made you cannot withdraw your request for a centre review or appeal. If your grade has been lowered you will not be able to revert back to the original grade you received on results day.
You can ask the centre to check whether it made a procedural error, an administrative error, or both. A procedural error means a failure to follow the process set out in the centre policy. An administrative error means an error in recording your grade or submitting your grade to the awarding organisation. You must request a centre review before you can request an awarding organisation appeal. This is so the awarding organisation is certain that your grade is as the centre intended.
You can ask the awarding organisation to check whether the centre made a procedural or administrative error – or whether the awarding organisation itself made an administrative error. You can also ask the awarding organisation to check whether the academic judgement of the centre was unreasonable, either in the selection of evidence or the determination of your grade.
You should submit a request for a centre review by 12th August 2021 for a priority appeal, or by 1st September 2021 for non-priority appeals. Once you have received the outcome of your centre review, if you wish to request an awarding organisation appeal you should do so as soon as possible. We will submit this on your behalf. Requests for a priority appeal should be submitted by 16th August 2021 and requests for non-priority appeals should be submitted by 8th September 2021. Priority appeals that aren’t submitted to the awarding organisation by 12th August 2021 will still be treated as a priority but they may not be completed in time for those with a higher education place dependent on the outcome of the appeal.
A priority appeal is only for students applying to higher education who did not attain their firm choice (i.e. the offer they accepted as their first choice) and wish to appeal an A level or other Level 3 qualification result. You should inform your intended higher education provider that you have requested a centre review or appeal.
Your UCAS personal ID is the 10 digit code included in all correspondence from UCAS. This is needed to confirm that a student’s place is dependent on the outcome of the appeal.
Students wanting to submit a centre review should fill in the form below and send this to BUA@moseley.bham.sch.uk by the deadlines set above.
For candidates who wish to take an exam in the exceptional autumn series (for progression purposes, or because they were withdrawn due to insufficient evidence) there will be further details made available by results day(s). Candidates should note that exams will consist of written exam papers only – with the exception of Art – and results will be based solely on these written papers. All timetabled examinations from this summer will be available during this exceptional Autumn series for candidates who are either unhappy with their teacher assessed grade, or were unable to receive a teacher assessed grade. If you wish to take an examination in this series please fill in the GCE or GCSE form below.
Enrolment to Moseley Sixth Form
We will be holding enrolment interviews on 12th, 13th and 16th of August. Students will be allocated a timeslot for these interviews which will be sent directly to each student by text and e-mail from Mr Boyle, Head of Sixth Form. Students will need to enter and exit via Wake Green Road, gate A. Students will need to sanitise their hands on entry to site at reception. Due to the current restrictions, we need to limit the number of people on the school site therefore you need to attend the interviews alone.
